What is Saliba Asset Management?

Saliba Asset Management, LLC (SAM) is a money management firm. We make investment decisions in house by selecting the specific equities, fixed income instruments, or alternative investments that comprise the portfolio. For equities, the firm picks individual stocks and mutual funds, while fixed income investments may consist of a blend of mutual funds and indivudual securities. For alternative investments such as commodity oriented or real estate investments, the assets may include individual securities, ETF's, mutual funds, or partnerships. We make the decisions and are responsible for the investments in our account.

What Makes Saliba Asset Management's Investment Process Different?

Saliba Asset Management is a multi-asset class money manager whose differentiation stems from a willingness to move funds between and among the various asset classes, including cash equilivalents. This strategy is based on the firm's belief that over the long term, diversification is most efficiently achieved by investing among asset classes as opposed to diversifying within a single asset class. The strategy is executed based on the firm's judgment about market expectations and the relative values between and among asset classes. The firm's focus is on sectors we believe hold attractive risk-return attributes. This process may result in emphasizing energy and high dividend stocks on the equity side and matching a blend of high-grade and high-yield bonds on the fixed income side. The processes of asset allocation and security selection are dynamic in that they change based on the firm's judgment of the markets and economic climates.

The Importance of Historical Performance

Historical performance is an indicator of how well strategies perfromed over longer time frames. The strategies of our firm and their performance have been verified. The Chartered Financial Analyst Institute is the global arbiter of performance standards by investment managers and established the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS). These standards serve as the industry benchmark for the construction and compilation of return performance. Saliba Asset Management is a GIPS compliant firm and has third party verification to establish its performance records. R. Gary Saliba and Alan Spearman are both Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA's).

Fees and Expenses

Saliba Asset Management charges the individual client 9/10's of 1% annually (90 basis points). In addition, the client's account pays trading costs, but generally those costs are minimal as turnover is historically low. When mutual funds are used for investing, fees associated with those investments are deducted by the mutual fund company. Saliba Asset Management receives no compensation from any mutual fund company when a fund is used; this allow us to make an objective decision with respect to mutual fund investment decisions. While the total cost to a client will vary depending, primarily, on the asset mix and trading activity, the goal is to keep the costs in the range of 1.0% to 1.25% annually. The reporting of perfromance is net of all fees to allow the client a clear and concise picture of their account's actual performance for the respective period. The firm's ADV Part 2 discloses the estimated fee and expense structure.

Custody and Reporting

Individual client accounts are held at a third party custodian in the client's name, and they provide monthly statements and copies of all transactions directly to the client. The custodian also maintains and reports all tax related information. Saliba Asset Management provides a detailed quarterly report of the account's activity and performance along with a letter summarizing the current state of the markets. Combined, this reporting structure keeps clients well informed of their account's activity and performance.
